Creating Optimal Posture & Movement that is

the LYT Method

of Functional Yoga & Movement

The specialized LYT™ Method, grounded in the principals of physical therapy and neurodevelopmental training, champions freedom through safer, smarter and more conscious movement patterns. Lara Heimann’s finely curated LYT Method™ speaks to the physical deficiencies of modern life,
and uses freedom in movement to champion wellness and balance. LYT was
created from 25 years of perfecting her own practice informed by her physical therapy training and is the perfect marriage of movement and anatomy.

Moving through life in a less than optimal posture can create dysfunction, pain, and discomfort. This creates patterns of compensation that prevent us from living full and energized lives physically, mentally and emotionally. Whether you participate in a group class, a private session, or video session, you will experience the difference! Optimal posture and alignment are vital for living your best life possible.

You will see and feel results immediately. For long lasting results and to re-map the neuro-pathways of these habitual habits, repetitive practice is recommended.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS

Hi, My name is Gregory Williamson. I was born with flat feet & played a lot of sports as a younger person. I walk pronated & my right foot is partially deformed. I had surgery on my right ankle in 1989 when they removed pieces of bone & cartilage. I either will have my right foot fused one day or have an ankle replacement. I had 4 bones removed from my right wrist in 2011, had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists and ulnar nerve release in my left arm. My left arm has numbness from the elbow to the wrist & into the little finger. I have 14 herniated discs in my neck & back; as well as scoliosis in my mid back. I have been doing some kind of PT for so many years I forget when & what for. I’ve had numerous epidurals, facet joint blocks, cortisone shots in the elbows, knees, plantar fascia, and metatarsals. One year ago I qualified for SSDI after 42 years in the restaurant & hospitality industry. I started doing yoga about 11 years ago and because of work demands, pain & lack of balance, I pretty much had to give it up 5 years ago.During Covid I was exercising with a physical therapist & riding a bike outside. When Green Tara opened back up I started with chair yoga & some gentle classes. Then Joi started an intro to LYT Yoga class. After one class I was so impressed I got a massage from her & an evaluation of my issues. I was not ready to do her regular classes so I ended up booking her for a private class every week for a month & scheduled more massages too. The results were amazing! Joi is educated, experienced, talented, knowledgeable & an amazing instructor. She understands movement & what the body needs to feel good & accomplish daily tasks. I look forward to her classes & no longer just do the intro class but all the classes she teaches at
Green Tara Yoga in Jupiter. I am a believer in her as a teacher & a therapist. With yoga and eating better I have lost over 15 pounds, gained muscle, improved my balance & while I will never be totally pain free my level of functionality is so much better. I hope one day to take yoga teacher training & perhaps learn to teach LYT yoga. I am forever grateful for Joi. She will always be in my life.
Hi, My name is Jenny Miller. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist practicing Craniosacral Therapy. I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for 20 years. I am obese with high blood pressure and sore knees. I’ve been practicing LYT yoga with Joi for 2 years. At the beginning I attended weekly and then about a year in I had experienced such profound change I increased to a committed, steady twice a week. The changes at first were a noticeable reduction in aches and pains. Then postural changes were next. I was able to sit and stand straighter. My yoga postures began to deepen and strengthen noticeably. After two years my yoga practice is completely different than where it began. Joi has coached me beautifully through a series of transitions. My cobra pose had always been strong and well-aligned. But suddenly, my range of motion in my scapulae doubled. I needed blocks for downward dog because the LYT practice was so difficult in the beginning. Now I can do vinyasas and downward dogs throughout the class because I am so much stronger, though one-legged down dogs still challenge me. I’m strong enough to hold dolphin now but have a long way to go to a forearm stand. My stamina has increased tremendously. My balance has improved dramatically. LYT yoga has changed the way my brain and body are interconnected. My reflexes are better. My spatial awareness has improved. My fascia now glides more easily. My muscles function more effectively. Since I started LYT yoga, I move better. I feel better.

Hi, My name is Heather Holt. In 16 years of practicing yoga, I’ve had a few major shifts that have completely changed my practice and brought me to a different level: LYT Yoga is one of them. I am overly flexible, have had many injuries, and have experienced years of chronic pain. Over the years, I joyfully wrecked my body with gymnastics, kung fu, hiking, and surfing. I’ve been thrown out of my car at 65 mph, crashed my motorcycle, and been hit by a cement truck. Yoga has helped me keep it together for a long time, but I still had pain; particularly in my hips, neck, and shoulders, so when I heard Joi speak those magic words “this method helped me alleviate my hip pain”, I had to give it a try. It’s a bit of work to retrain physically and mentally, and I’ve really had to dedicate myself to it. I’m trying to focus on all of these different body parts at once (I engage one and forget the other) as I find out just how much strengthening there is to be done. But those parts ARE getting stronger and learning how to cooperate, and now more and more when I am doing something else or even a different class it’s coming to me. I’m seeing where this same idea applies all the time no matter what I’m doing. I hear that voice telling me to engage my glutes in the most unlikely of times. And I do it. My shoulders and hips are stronger, as well as more stable and mobile. I am now able to do side plank with no shoulder pain and one legged plank with no SI joint pain. My forearm stands and handstands are aligned and strong. The difference LYT Yoga has made is well beyond what I expected. There is no going back.

Hi. My name is Garry DeArmond. I came to Joi’s class to become stronger and more flexible. My movements were restricted from a major abdominal surgery I underwent. My health was deteriorating and the domino effect of other things going wrong was about to happen. I was at a fork in the road, I could go left and continue the complacent lifestyle or I could make a disciplined decision to engage in a healthy direction. Once I came to the first class I could tell Joi was a total professional and her dedication to optimal form and technique was very apparent. Not being accustomed to yoga, I followed her direction as well as I was able in the first class. Joi was very astute, especially to me being a new student. Her awareness of my issues and personal attention let me know that she really wants to help me and is willing to show me and encourage me. But after the first class, I was spent! Wore out and needed the next day to rest. So that was my fork in the road…to go back for more…or not? I haven’t missed a class. I go twice a week and have been doing so for about five months. It has transformed my outer body for sure. My core is stronger! A miracle happened when I noticed that my insides were becoming healthier and didn’t hurt anymore. Everything shifted into place and became more functional. I was able to move freely and I became way more agile. Once all this was happening I had to eat better and drink way more water! And the fat melted away, most of it anyway. So my lifestyle is now really healthy! Once you get to experience Joi’s dedication and knowledge, you’ll want to come to class every time as well: to become a better person, inside and out! Sometimes the worst situations can manifest into the best things that ever happened!

I have been sl0wly recuperating from recent injuries (neck, shoulder, right wrist, high risk for severe fracture in left hip) due to brittle weak bones, a fall, a crash, and stress … all knotting me up like a tight, shoulders in the ears, bone breaking bundle of nerves. Joi’s classes help me feel like I’m discovering and strengthening my muscles. Her instructions are given perfectly and she moves to make sure they are followed correctly. Pulling it all in to the center feels good. I like feeling a tad more balanced and more hopeful. Thank you for all of your assists and your EAGLE EYE that doesn’t miss a sinking hip, torqued torso, snarky smile, or dropping tear. I feel more toned overall. To sum it all up, thanks for everything. Namaste

Joi is a phenomenal yoga instructor! I have struggled with chronic lower back pain and sciatica for many years. Since starting Joi’s live classes, I feel my body growing stronger and I believe I’ve started down the path to relief from my pain. Joi is determined to equip each of her yogis with the knowledge it takes for them to achieve and exceed their goals. Her classes are informative and fun, and I expect I will continue to grow and use the skills I’ve learned for a lifetime.

I have suffered from chronic shoulder pain for years. Steroid injections and physical therapy provided temporary relief. Since I have been practicing the LYT method with Joi, I am practically pain free!!! I can’t believe I can do a Chaturanga now. Joi is so passionate about her teaching, she’s a credit to her profession.

I spend the majority of my time outside of work training and racing mountain bikes and am constantly dealing with sore muscles and chronic back pain. Joi is an integral part of keeping me riding to my potential by relieving pain and speeding my recovery. Her knowledge of the body and safe alignment practices during yoga are second to none.

Matt N.

Stronger body. Better alignment for other forms of movement especially yoga.

Joi, I am so glad you are teaching the LYT method yoga for better posture, functionality and to help with lower back pain. I see a difference already in my posture, especially at work, and I am always back pain free when I can make your class! Your classes are a workout, but I feel so much more integrated, stronger after each session. I’m hoping you continue to build a bigger base. Love you!

Joi is an amazing yoga instructor. I have been doing yoga for years, but the fine tuning Joi gave me brought me to the next level AND my knees no longer hurt! During class, each person is noticed and given individual instructions or modifications based on their needs. If you need more, she tells you what to do to bring it up a notch. If you need a modification for an injury, she brings it to your level of need. If I could, I would take her class every day. To top it all off, she has a heart of gold.
